Mining, demolition, detonation, and controlled burns harbor mementos of meliorative ruination.
The most substantial refurbishments may call for a total leveling.

​Carborundum, the poor man's diamond, is grown only to be undone.
The crystals are mined and pressed into into sandpaper, grinding wheels, grip tape and dremel bits.
This harvesting - the cut - is sustained for no purpose but the repetition of cutting.
​
Acts of repair require abrasion and reduction; we call this destruction "maintenance".

Used 80 grit carborundum sandpaper framed with carborundum chips.
